The Dwarf Palm is the symbol of this National Natural Park. To describe
its seven kilometres of uncontaminated coast is impossible: the small bays
paved from candid pebbles that the waves roll in the sea and the tones of
the green must be seen to appreciate. You can enter to the Park from San
Vito Lo Capo or from Scopello. The Park can be visited only on foot,
nothing should trouble the birds and the endemic fauna. The Park is famous
for the intense blu of its sea, its “calette” silent protected from
cliffs that peak where hawks fly in search of food.
In the middle of the
Park there is an archaeological jewel called the Cave of Uzzo, about 60
metres above sea level. It was studied by a French scientist. In the
Mesolithic period, about ten thousand years ago, man lived, fished,
hunted, and buried and dead. The main part of discoveries consists in fact
from burials and funeral furnishings. Bones of animals recovered near the
flints confirm the presence in the area of deer and wild horses.
